Rookie Rules

IF THE RULES DON’T SAY YOU CAN DO IT, DON’T!  CARS ARE TO REMAIN STOCK UNLESS RULES LISTED BELOW ALLOW FOR CHANGES. ALL CARS ARE SUBJECT TO OFFICIALS APPROVAL.
BODY
CARS TO REMAIN STOCK AND MUST HAVE COMPLETE STOCK BODY.
MAY HAVE TUBE FRONT BUMPER WITH AFTERMARKET STOCK APPEARING NOSE PIECE, MUST USE STOCK REAR BUMPER
NO MIRRORS OR REFLECTIVE DEVICES OF ANY TYPE.
ALL GLASS, CHROME TRIM, MOLDINGS ETC, MUST BE REMOVED.
FRONT WINDSHIELD OPENING MUST BE COVERED WITH A GRAVEL SCREEN OR A MINIMUM OF 3 BARS IN FRONT OF DRIVER.
NO GUTTING ALLOWED, EXCEPT DOORS MAY BE TRIMMED FOR DOOR BAR PLACEMENT.
DOORS MUST BE BOLTED OR WELDED SHUT.
MUST HAVE STOCK FLOOR PAN WITH ROCKER PANELS FROM FRONT FIREWALL TO REAR BUMPER, FRONT AND REAR FIREWALLS MUST BE IN STOCK LOCATION.
REAR STOCK FIREWALL MUST BE SEALED WITH STEEL BETWEEN DRIVER AND FUEL CELL.
HOOD AND TRUNK LID MUST BE SECURED DOWN.
SEAT MUST BE MOUNTED IN FRONT OF THE ORIGINAL FRONT DOOR POST.
NO SPOILERS OR CLOSED INTERIORS
MUST HAVE LARGE LEGIBLE NUMBERS ON BOTH SIDES OF CAR AND ON ROOF    
FRAME & CAGE   
ANY AMERICAN OEM FULL BODY REAR WHEEL DRIVE PASSENGER CAR, FULL FRAME CARS MINIMUM 108” WHEEL BASE, UNIBODYS 110”.
WHEEL BASE MUST BE SAME LENGTH BOTH SIDES
FRAME MUST MATCH BODY, GM TO GM, FORD TO FORD ETC. AND BE CORRECT WHEEL BASE FOR THE BODY. NO CUTTING OR ALTERING FRAME.
MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 4 POINT ROLL CAGE MADE OF MIN. 1.5” X.095” WALL LOW CARBON OR MILD STEEL TUBING, MUST MOUNT TO FRAME.
NO OFFSET CAGES, TOP HALO MINIMUM 40” ACROSS AND MUST HAVE ONE CROSS BAR
MAIN ROLL BAR BEHIND DRIVER MUST BE CROSS BRACED.
FRONT ENGINE HOOP (CAN SERVE AS RADIATOR SUPPORT) AND REAR TRUNK HOOP FOR FUEL CELL RECOMMENDED.
MINIMUM OF 3 DRIVERS DOOR BARS.

MUST USE OEM MASTER CYLINDER AND PEDAL ASSEMBLY.
NO BRAKE SHUT OFF VALVES OR ADJUSTERS OF ANY KIND,
ENGINE
OEM CAST IRON HEADS. NO BOWTIE OR VORTEC HEADS.
STOCK STEEL OEM BLOCK, NO BOWTIE, FORD SVO OR CHRYSLER W-2 BLOCKS
NO ROLLER ROCKERS OR ROLLER TIPS. FLAT TOP OR DISH PISTONS ONLY.
CAST IRON INTAKE, NO BOW TIE
ENGINE MUST BE IN STOCK LOCATION AND MATCH BODY AND MAKE. V8 #3 PLUG EVEN OR IN FRONT OF BALL JOINT.
STOCK EXHAUST MANIFOLDS MUST BE USED AND EXHAUST PIPES PAST DRIVERS SEAT.
MUST PULL 15 INCHES VACUUM @ 1000 RPM AFTER RACE TO PASS VACCUM TEST, CAR MUST IDLE @ 1000 RPM NO EXCEPTIONS!
CARBURETOR / FUEL & IGNITION
ONE TWO OR FOUR BARREL OEM CARBURETOR, NO MODIFICATIONS, NO HOLLEYS OR ANY AFTERMARKET CARBS. NO CARBURETOR SPACERS OR ADAPTER PLATES
NO ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS OR BELT DRIVE, NO PRESSURE SYSTEMS.
FUEL CELL MUST BE MOVED INSIDE THE TRUNK AREA AND SECURELY FASTENED TO THE FRAME. NO LARGER THAN 22 GALLONS. STRONGLY RECOMMEND ROLL OVER CHECK VALVE.
NO AFTERMARKET CAN AROUND FUEL CELL.
NO HOMEMADE TANKS. FUEL CELL CANNOT EXTEND THROUGH TRUNK FLOOR
GASOLINE ONLY, NO ALCOHOL OR SPECIAL FUEL MIXES
NO AFTERMARKET DISTRIBUTORS. IGNITION MUST BE STOCK, NO MSD BOXES OR ACCEL              
7.  TRANSMISSION
ALL CARS MUST HAVE STOCK TRANSMISSIONS.
AUTOMATICS MUST HAVE STOCK TORQUE CONVERTER.
NO DIRECT DRIVE OR SPUDS
NO MINI CLUTCH, MINIMUM 10 ½” CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
MUST START IN NEUTRAL AND MOVE WHEN PUT INTO GEAR.
8.  BATTERY & STARTER
ONE 12V PASSENGER CAR TYPE BATTERY MAY BE MOVED INSIDE OF CAR, IN PROTECTED POSITION SECURELY FASTENED.
MUST HAVE WORKING STARTER.
9.  RADIATOR
RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION COOLER MUST BE MOUNTED UNDER THE HOOD.

10. TIRES & WHEELS
D.O.T. 70 OR 75 SERIES ONLY, NO RACING DOT TIRES OR RECAPS. D.O.T 60 Series Tires or 8inch takeoffs (same as Springfield Raceway)
8” MAX STEEL WHEELS, AFTERMARKET HEAVY DUTY OR RACING WHEELS MANDATORY. NO BEAD LOCKS, NO WIDE FIVES
1” LUGNUTS REQUIRED, LARGER WHEEL STUDS RECOMMENDED.
11. REAR ENDS & DRIVELINES
REAR END MAY BE LOCKED, TRAILING ARMS MUST BE STOCK AND IN STOCK LOCATION. HOUSING MUST MATCH CAR.
GM SUSPENSION ON GM, FORD ON FORD ETC.
AFTERMARKET AXLES OK, NO OTHER AFTER MARKET PARTS ALLOWED.
12. SUSPENSION & STEERING        
NO MODIFYING OF SUSPENSION ALLOWED. THIS MEANS NONE.
MAY USE RACING SPRINGS AND SHOCKS IN STOCK LOCATION.
NO WEIGHT JACKS , TRACTION DEVICES OR TORQUE ARMS OF ANY KIND.
NO AFTERMARKET FRONT CONTROL ARMS OR STEERING LINKAGES, OEM ONLY.
QUICK RELEASE STEERING WHEEL ALLOWED
NO STEERING QUICKNER OR RAC-N-PINION ALLOWED.
13. SEAT / BELTS & OTHER SAFETY ITEMS
ALUMINUM RACING SEAT ONLY, NO FIBERGLASS
5 POINT RACING HARNESS THAT IS SAFETY APPROVED (HARNESS WILL BE UNAPPROVED IF FOUND WORN OR FRAYED.)
SEAT & BELTS MUST BE BOLTED TO THE FRAME OR CAGE.
HELMET (95 SNELL RATED)
FULL FIRE SUIT REQUIRED ANY TIME CAR IS BEING RACED OR HOT LAPPED.
FIRE EXTINGUISHER OR FIRE OUT SYTEM MUST BE INSTALLED.
NECK BRACES, FIRE RESISTANT GLOVES AND SHOES HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
IF YOUR CAR IS CONSIDERED UNSAFE BY TRACK OFFICIALS YOU WILL NOT RACE.
IF TECH DOES NOT CATCH ILLEGAL MODIFICATIONS OR UNSAFE ISSUES WITH YOUR CAR, DO NOT CONSIDER IT A PASS TO RACE. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR SAFETY AND KNOWING THE RULES.


A.) If you have won a feature in any other class, you are not eligible to race in
this class.
B.) First time disqualification; lose all points and money for the night.
Second time disqualification; no longer allowed to compete in Rookie class.
C.) Driver is allowed to win only 7 races a year or 15 races in a career, driver
must then move up to bomber class or quit!

You must race 75% of the scheduled races in your division to qualify for post season awards.
