Pure Stock Rules 2016

2016 PURE STOCK RULES

IF THE RULES DON’T SAY YOU CAN DO IT, DON’T!  CARS ARE TO REMAIN STOCK UNLESS RULES LISTED BELOW ALLOW FOR CHANGES. ALL CARS ARE SUBJECT TO OFFICIALS APPROVAL.

BODIES:

Cars to remain stock and must have complete stock body.
May have tube front bumper with aftermarket stock appearing nose piece, must use stock rear bumper.
No mirrors or reflective devices of any type.
All glass, chrome trim, moldings, etc., must be removed.
Front windshield opening must be covered with a gravel screen or a minimum of 3 bars in front of the driver.

No gutting allowed, except for doors, may remove front inner fender wells.
Doors must be bolted or welded shut.
Must have stock floor pan with rocker panels from front firewall to rear bumper, front and rear firewalls must be in stock location.
Rear stock firewall must be sealed with steel between driver and fuel cell.
Hood and trunk lid must be secured down.
Seat must be mounted in front of the original front door post.
No spoilers or closed interiors.
Must have large legible numbers on both sides of car and on roof.

FRAME & CAGE:

Any American OEM full body rear wheel drive passenger car, minimum 108” wheel base.
Wheel base must be same length both sides.

Frame must match body, GM to GM, FORD to FORD, etc. and be correct wheel base for the body. No cutting or altering frame.
Must have a minimum of 4 point roll cage made of MIN. 1.5” X.095” wall low carbon or mild steel tubing, must mount to frame.
No offset cages, top halo minimum 40” across and must have one cross bar.

Main roll bar behind driver must be cross braced.
Front engine hoop (can serve as radiator support) and rear trunk hoop for fuel cell recommended.
Minimum of 3 drivers door bars.

ENGINE:

OEM cast iron heads. No Bowtie or Vortec heads.
Stock steel OEM block, no Bowtie, Ford SVO or Chrysler W-2 Blocks.
No Roller Cams, Roller Rockers or Roller Tips.  Flat top or dish pistons only.
Cast iron intake, no Bowtie.
Engine must be in stock location and match body and make. V8 #3 Sparkplug even or in front of ball joint.
Stock exhaust manifolds must be used and exhaust pipes must extend past drivers seat.
Must pull 15 Inches vacuum @ 1000 RPM after race to pass vacuum test, car must idle @ 1000 RPM no exceptions!

Racing style oil pans allowed. No aluminum oil pans.

CARB:

Two or Four Barrel OEM carburetor, no modifications. Or 4412 Holley 2bbl, no modifications, except jets and choke plate removed. No modifications to choke tower. No Carb spacers. Carb must have vacuum ports for testing vacuum.

No electric or belt drive fuel pumps. Stock type mechanical pump only.

Gasoline only, no Alcohol or special fuel mixes.

RADIATOR:

Aluminum radiator ok, aluminum pulleys ok. No alum. water pumps, unless factory installed. Radiator and Transmission cooler must be mounted under hood.

TRANSMISSION:

All cars must have Stock Transmissions.
Automatics must have stock torque converter.
No direct drive or spuds.

No mini clutch, minimum 10.4” clutch assembly.
Must start in neutral and move when put into gear.

STEERING:

Aftermarket steering shaft with quick release wheel is allowed. No steering quickener or rack and pinion steering allowed.

REAR-END:

May use 9" ford or stock rear-end, may be locked. Aftermarket axles allowed, no other aftermarket parts allowed.

SUSPENSION:

All components must be stock OEM for make and model no moving brackets or shortening lengths. OEM bushings only. No weight jacks, or spring spacers.

Shocks: Stock mount/Stock Appearing racing shocks allowed. No heim end or adjustable. No take apart shocks/mono tube only. No Schrader-valves or adjustable shocks. No gas reservoir shocks. Shocks must be all steel.

Springs: Stock appearing racing springs allowed.

Front: OEM diameter and minimum 11” height

Rear: Minimum 7” diameter and 12” height

REAR SUSPENSION: Trailing arms must remain stock for frame being used and be in stock location on chassis Gm to Gm- Ford to Ford etc., pinion angle must remain stock. No aluminum parts. Cannot move spring forward, back or side to side. Must be in stock location. Leaf spring cars must have plates welded to axle tubes to prevent pinion angle from moving. Leaf springs can run lowering blocks but no adjustable lowering blocks. No spring sliders. No split leaf springs; must have same number of leafs in front of axle and behind .No slapper type traction devices. No roller bearings .No heim ends. Must be stock type bushings i.e. If it came with a rubber bushing with steel insert it must remain that way. Aftermarket stock replacement ok. No floating bird cages, coil eliminators or any other traction devices allowed!!! No weight jacks, traction devices, or torque arms of any kind. Rear shocks must be in stock type location. (if they came in front of the rear-end they must remain there.)
Rear trailing arms no more than 2 7/8 inches from bottom of housing to center of bolt. Same both sides. Upper control arms no more than 2 ½
inches from housing to center of the bolt. Same both sides. No adjustment holes allowed on rear-end or chassis, must be stock location on chass

WEIGHT:

No added weight. 45% max rear percentage.

IGNITION:

Must be stock!!! No DUI or MSD, etc.

BATTERY & STARTER:

One 12V passenger car type battery, must be moved inside of car. In protected position securely fastened.
Must have working starter.

FUEL TANK:

Fuel cell must be moved inside the trunk area and securely fastened to the frame. No larger than 22 gallons. Strongly recommend roll over check valve.
No homemade can around fuel cell.
No homemade tanks. Fuel Cell cannot extend through trunk floor.

TIRES:
Stock street tires, 70 or 60 series D.O.T. No all terrain tires, racing D.O.T., or recap tires. 8 inch asphalt take offs allowed, 50 minimum compound. Max. 8 inch tread.

WHEELS:

8 inch max, steel wheels, aftermarket heavy duty or racing wheels mandatory, no bead locks, no wide fives. Must have 1” lug nuts. Larger wheel studs recommended.

DRIVESHAFT:

Stock length, painted white, no aluminum.

BRAKES:

Must have 4 wheel working brakes. No shut off valves, bias valves, or adjusters of any kind. No aftermarket pedals. Must use OEM type master cylinder. May remove power booster. Pedal must be in stock location.  4 wheel OEM disc brakes ok.

FIRE EXTINGUISER:

Required, must be in drivers reach.

UNIFORM:

Must wear full racing suit. Neck brace, fire resistant gloves, and shoes highly recommended.

HELMET:

Snell rating of at least 2000

SEAT & BELTS:

Aluminum racing seat, mounted to cage, securely mounted, stock location. No setbacks!!!!!

5 Point harness that is safety approved. (Harness will be unapproved if found worn or frayed.) Must be securely mounted to the frame or cage.

MISC:

This is a stock class, no high performance parts; if you think it is a grey area ask track or tech before doing it, will be tech’d by tracks interpretation of rules!!!!!

IF YOUR CAR IS CONSIDERED UNSAFE BY TRACK OFFICIALS YOU WILL NOT RACE.

Must have minimum of 70%d attendance to be considered for post season awards.
